things we will miss....

so with all of the new changes happening in our household...billy and i had to make a choice about a very special someone....lyric....baby is coming....and the poo is still just a baby herself....billy and i have family in far away lands ;) and travel a bit to see them quite regularly...but with no suv and just a small backseat lyric and baby wouldn't be traveling anywhere together....lyric liked to sneak things off of the counter....and she worried mom that baby might get its food kidnapped off a high chair when she turned around....lyric had no space awareness....if you were on the ground/bed you got trampled....it didn't matter what you did or said...she just didn't get that her feet hurt when they were on top of your face....mom worried that lyric might not get it with the baby hanging around on the floor or nursing in bed....lyric was still a puppy and needed a lot of attention....baby is well our baby and will get all of our attention....worries aside...this was probably one of the hardest decisions i have ever had to make....and i still have to stop from crying every time i think about the situation....but deep down i know it was for the best.

we put lyric on ksl to find her a good home a couple of weeks ago and well she had an overwhelming response....our goal was not to earn back our money on her, we just wanted to find her the best possible situation....one that i would feel she would honestly be better off in....we had a ton of calls/email/texts about her....we interviewed a few families....and chose one who had a 15 year old son, another boxer and a huge fenced in backyard....and i can honestly say that i feel that it is definitely a better situation for her....my only prayer is that her new family will love her and all of her cute little quirks as much as we did...and that she will love them.

so here is our list of our favorite lyric moments:

~when she got into the trash (when she knew she shouldn't) and we came downstairs to the lid of the trash can wrapped around her little body as she frantically tried to get it off....and then looked up like...oh crap, i got caught....

~her hatred of bedtime, because it meant she had to go in her kennel....she would pass out every night in bed with me and then billy would wake her up to move her into her room...she would pretend like she couldn't move as she watched billy try to push her off the bed...and she laid like a limp noodle...

~her ability to cheer you up with her kisses and big bear hugs....

~her cuddles....

~her excitement when she saw someone come home....

~her ability to jump three feet into the air....

~the fact that we had to spell the word w...a....l...k... because she would immediately jump up and grab her leash with tons of excitement if we even casually mentioned it....
~her sneaky little deviances....

~when you were mad at her...she would caulk her head to the side as if she were saying..."what did i do?" and then sink into the ground as if to say..."i'm sorry!"

~we already miss the sound of the door stop being pawed at to let us know she is hungry...

~her ability to keep me company and the fact that you knew she loved you....

we love you too lyric! and we hope you love your new home and that they love you!

  1. (((HUGS))) I know that is such a hard decision. I am sure she will be happy with her new home. She will love running in the yard. You will always miss her, but yes, your baby is your baby.

  2. I totally know what you are going through. We sold diesel for the same reason. So sad :(

  3. I'm so sorry Tonya! We got rid of our cats when Macy came, but I know dogs are totally different. You made the right decision though. Now you can keep some of your sanity when the baby comes. Good luck.

  4. I hope you guys are doing ok! It is definitely not easy to give up a pet. Amber and Che' had to give their cat Sunni away because Amber was allergic to her. So hard! It will all be ok, and she was such a good dog to have the memories of! :)
